Duragesic is a Transdermal or Adhesive Patch that provides a continuous delivery of Fentenyl, an Opioid Analgesic. It can provide relief for up to 72 hours. The maker, Janssen, recommends use only if regular pain relief medications are ineffective. It is primarily meant for persons who suffer from constant, Chronic Pain and are seeking relief for extended periods.

The Duragesic patch functions by delivering a pain-relieving medicine called Fentanyl through your skin and than into your bloodstream. In addition, the Fentanyl patch comes in different dosages, 25mcg/hr, 50mcg/hr, 75mcg/hr or 100mcg/hr. Make sure to consult your doctor to find out which dosage is appropriate for you.
